When Spirit Realty—now one of the largest REITs in the DFW area—relocated its headquarters to Dallas, only a small percentage of the staff made the move from Scottsdale, AZ. The company needed to become fully staffed, from entry level to a number of leadership positions, with the best talent available, including an intentional focus on younger talent that could grow with the firm. And, they wanted a more modern and sophisticated brand look and employer story to get noticed by Millennial top talent.

Addressing Spirit’s employee recruiting challenge started with research to gain insights from existing Millennial employees and SHRM, in particular what would attract high performers from that generation in the financial services space. A sophisticated new brand took shape around the idea of constant growth. Collateral, Social channel content, a new website highlighted company strengths to appeal to ambitious job seekers. To nurture the promised employee experience, the upmost attention was placed into new onboarding materials and activities that solidified a positive team culture.

The employer branding effort was a success with all hiring goals met and a new, modern, sophisticated brand presence that spoke to the company growth and career growth Spirit offered its employees. A cocktail reception was branded, promoted and managed to celebrate its new workforce, local clients and partners – complete with a signature “REIT-tini” drink for event guests.

Built out the corporate identity and visual language, incorporated those elements into a collateral system.
